Laurie Janae Teter

MORGAN COUNTY, Colo. — The body of a woman who was reported missing last week was found in Morgan County in northeastern Colorado on Wednesday, the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office said.

Sheriff Jim Crone said the body of 37-year-old Laurie Janae Teter was found near Morgan County roads U.5 and 24.

She was last seen in that area reportedly after a fight with her boyfriend on Sept. 2.

According to the sheriff’s office, Teter was living in a tent in a field with her boyfriend. Before she disappeared, her boyfriend told the sheriff’s office the couple got into a physical altercation.

On Friday, the sheriff’s office said Teter’s boyfriend was not a suspect or a person of interest in Teter’s disappearance. Teter’s family said she would never disappear without telling someone.

“Investigators and deputies have searched a number of areas and interviewed a number of people as part of this investigation up to and including [Wedmesda], a news release said. “Her death is being investigated as a homicide.”

An autopsy is scheduled to determine how Teter died.
