AURORA, Colo. — Residents of a neighborhood in Aurora say a lightning bolt hit a front yard and ignited a gas fire that burned for several hours Thursday.

It happened in the 15500 block of East Greenwood Drive a little after 4:30 p.m. Rand Clark lives in the neighborhood, and he praised the response of the community and the Aurora Fire Department.

“My son Gavin brought the firefighters drinks and while the fire is burning they took the time with the neighborhood kids to put them on the truck and talk with them,” Clark said. “Aurora fire department rocks.”
