51-year-old Pueblo man killed in deadly crash on I-25

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. — Colorado State Patrol is investigating a fatal car crash that took the life of a man Saturday.

It happened around 12:30 p.m. around the mile marker 152 Interquest exit on Interstate 25 near the Air Force Academy.

The driver of a yellow 2004 Volkswagon Beetle was traveling south on the interstate when it veered off the right side of the highway, went airborne and then landed upright in a ditch, according to the State Patrol.

The driver, a 51-year-old man from Pueblo, was pronounced dead at the scene.

No passengers were in the vehicle at the time and only the Beetle was involved in the crash, according to the State Patrol.

The man’s identity was not released, pending notification of next of kin.

State Patrol told KRDO that the accident may have been the result of a medical emergency, but the investigation is ongoing.
