AURORA, Colo. — A man has been hospitalized with life threatening injuries after being shot in the leg early Sunday morning.

Aurora police responded to reports of multiple shots being fired in the area of 23rd Avenue and Dayton Street just after 4 a.m. At the scene, police found shell casings and blood in the street, but no victim or suspects in the area.

Shortly thereafter, the victim walked into the University Hospital emergency room with a serious gunshot wound to the leg.

He was reported in critical condition as of Sunday afternoon.

Police also discovered another crime scene a block away at 23rd Avenue and Emporia Street, but again, no victims or suspects were found.

This shooting was not connected to the shooting of multiple victims in Commerce City, police say.
