COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – A search for a missing man led to El Paso County deputies unexpectedly finding a woman’s body in his home.

Timothy Lee Copley has been missing since June 20, 2014. His case was one of about 26 unsolved missing persons cases that were audited and assigned for further investigation when sheriff Bill Elder took office in January, according to The Gazette.

As part of the investigation, a detective coordinated a multi-jurisdictional search effort to find Copley, which included a warrant for Copley’s home.

When deputies went into the home, they found the woman’s remains.

The body was found in Copley’s home on the 3400 block of West Colorado Avenue.

Deputies said they do not suspect foul play. They had no information on the condition in which the body was found but an autopsy is planned. The woman’s name has not been released.

Copley, 58, is described as 6 feet tall and about 250 pounds. Anyone who sees him or knows anything about his disappearance can call detective Scott Mackey at 719-520-7291.
