SOMERSET, England — Lewis Ferguson, an 18-year old jockey in England, was not hurt Wednesday after taking a spectacular fall off his horse during a race at Wincanton.

Ferguson was riding the favorite Merrion Square as he approached the final fence. But Merrion Square started to change directions and Ferguson lost control, fell off, hit the fence and flipped into the air.

Ferguson, riding just his fifth race as a professional, wasn’t injured and was able to walk away and said he had a “bit of a sore head but on the whole was absolutely fine.”
