JACKSON, Miss. – Mississippi lawmakers have rejected home-schooling legislation named for former Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow.

The “Tim Tebow Act” would have allowed home-schooled students to participate in extracurricular activities in their school districts.

A similar law in Florida allowed Tebow to do that in high school.

But some critics say the measure could prompt good athletes with bad grades who have been dismissed from a team to leave public school, become home-schooled and still play football or other sports.
