Jennifer Broome takes us out for some winter fun at Latigo Ranch.

Latigo Ranch was named one of USA Today’s 12 best family resorts in the country.  This dude ranch is known for its horses and western adventure in the summer.  In the winter it is a secluded winter wonderland with phenomenal Nordic skiing.  They have about 60 kilometers of trails for all levels of cross-country and skate skiing.  You can also go snowshoeing, tubing, and sledding on the ranch.  It is a true getaway since there are no TVs and cell phone service is sketchy.  The food is outstanding.  They specialize in Nuevo-ranch cuisine, which is typical ranch food with a twist.  Since you’ll likely be enjoying some outdoor adventures, the portions are ranch size.  Latigo Ranch frequently shares some of their recipes, including gluten free recipes.  For meals, you eat in the dining hall and get to know owners Jim and Kathie Yost and Randy and Lisa George.  They are delightful and you will enjoy spending time with them.

Latigo Ranch is about 2,000 feet higher than Kremmling and it is surrounded by national forest on three sides.  They do offer day passes for skiing and you can make a reservation for lunch or dinner.  Go for a weekend or a week and enjoy a winter adventure at a ranch!
