MINTURN, Colo. — A large rockslide blocked U.S. 24 near Minturn on Saturday night, the Colorado Department of Transportation said.

The road was closed at 6:45 p.m. and remained closed between Minturn and Leadville on Monday morning, CDOT said. There was no estimated time for reopening.

Transportation officials were still evaluating the site but said there appears to be road damage. There also might be concerns about the ongoing stability of the slope itself.

Highway 91 was suggested as an alternate route.
