Investigators look for suspects blamed for setting fire at elementary school
AURORA, Colo. — Investigators say a fire early Tuesday at an Aurora elementary school was intentionally or recklessly set. They were looking for suspects Tuesday afternoon.
The fire damaged two preschool classrooms at Meadow Point Elementary School, 17901 E. Grand Ave., about 1:30 a.m. and found a portable classroom building on fire.
There was extensive damage inside and outside of the unit in the back of the school property. A second nearby portable unit and the main school building were not affected.
Preschool classes at the school were canceled Tuesday, the Cherry Creek School District said. Because of the damage, the preschool classes are canceled for the rest of the week. Administrators say preschool classes will resume Monday, December 8.
All other classes at Meadow Point Elementary were held as scheduled.
Arson investigators did not release information about how the suspect or suspects started the fire.
