Fugitive wanted in metro-area attacks caught in New York
FORT EDWARD, N.Y. — A fugitive wanted in multiple cases of sex assault, kidnapping and robbery who was believed to be hiding in the Denver metro area, was apprehended in New York late Tuesday night.
Gregory Lewis, 26, was arrested after driving into the Hudson River while trying to flee from a traffic stop, Massachusetts State Police said.
Lewis is wanted in Colorado in connection with sex assault, kidnapping and robbery charges.
Lewis was under court-ordered supervision pending a statutory rape trial. He reportedly attacked his stepfather in Southbridge, Mass., in late September, according to MyFoxBoston. Lewis tied the man up, took a handgun and fled in his parents’ SUV. At some point, he also cut off his ankle bracelet, the station reported.
