Man wanted for attacks on 7 women in Fort Collins area

FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Everyone needs to be on alert for for a man who is now linked to seven assaults on women during the last six weeks in the Fort Collins area.

Women are urged to be very careful if out alone at night. Police suggested an unconventional way that might work to protect women. Try making eye contact. It tells the people around you that you're aware they're there.

A composite sketch of the suspect was released following the most recent attack which happened Wednesday night.

Larimer County Sheriff's investigators say the suspect is a man in his 30s. He assaulted a woman while she was riding her bike along Highway 1 just north of Fort Collins.

Here is the suspect's description:

  • Hispanic man in his 30s
  • Shaved head
  • Moustache
  • Patch of hair just under his bottom lip
  • Stocky to muscular build

He was driving an older white or light-colored SUV with faded wood paneling or two-tone paint on the side.

All of the incidents of unwanted advances and assaults have similarities. One of them is that they have happened between 7 p.m. and midnight.

Wednesday's attack happened outside the city in Larimer County, 5 of them happened within Fort Collins city limits and the other one happened on the CSU campus.
