NEW YORK -- They said farewell to Derek Jeter Thursday night. It was his final home game after hes 20-year-long career.
The captain of the Yankees is retiring at the end of the season and New York is out of the playoffs. The team goes on the road to Boston for the final weekend of the season.
It's only the third time in his career that he has not been in the post season.
But he ended his career at Yankees Stadium perfectly... and the crowd went wild.
The Yankees and Baltimore Orioles were tied 5-5 in the bottom of the 9th. There was a runner on second and Jeter did the amazing. He hit a single to drive in the winning run.
When asked after the game what he was thinking during the final at bat, he said, "Don't cry."
