DENVER -- The Broncos survived a late comeback attempt by the Colts, opening the 2014 season with a 31-24 win.

Early on, it looked like this might be a blowout. Peyton Manning threw three touchdowns to tight end Julius Thomas in the first half alone, leading Denver into halftime with a 24-7 lead.

But Andrew Luck and the Colts rallied most of the way back, putting up 14 points in the fourth quarter.  The saving grace may well have been safety Rahim Moore, who picked off Luck with 5:25 left in the game. While Indy did manage seven points after that turnover, it slowed the rally down just enough to keep the Broncos on top.
