LITTLETON, Colo. — A man was killed early Monday morning after the vehicle he was in plunged into Johnson Reservoir at Clement Park.

Reports said the vehicle was 30 feet off shore and a dive team recovered the man in his mid-20s after the vehicle reportedly rolled over and crashed into the water, according to Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office dispatchers.

The man was transported to a local hospital, but he was later declared dead, the Colorado State Patrol said.

The cause of the crash, which happened about 4:30 a.m., is under investigation, but deputies said the driver was going around the reservoir on the bike path when he lost control and went into the water.
