Mudslide closes Hwy. 24 west of Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The Colorado State Patrol closed Highway 24 west of Colorado Springs after a mudslide Saturday.

The closure impacted the highway between Cascade and Cave of the Winds, reported KRDO-TV. It reopened around 7:30 p.m.

Heavy rain fell on the area just after noon. The National Weather Service said rain gauges in the upper Waldo Canyon were at half an inch.

A flash flood warning was issued for the area until 5 p.m.
