DougCo Sheriff: Child pulled from Chatfield Reservoir dies

LITTLETON, Colo. -- A child was in serious condition after being pulled from the Chatfield Reservoir Saturday.

Douglas County Sheriff Ron Hanavan confirmed that a juvenile had been recovered from the reservoir Saturday by Littleton Fire Department dive units and transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

The child later died from the injuries sustained during the incident, according to Douglas County.

Hanavan said a call reporting there was a child in the reservoir came in around 5:35 p.m.

Hanavan was unable to say the age or gender of the child.

The Littleton Fire Department was also dispatched to the scene.

Chatfield Reservoir is in Chatfield State Park south of Littleton.
