AURORA, Colo. -- A study ranks Aurora as the best in the U.S. for working women.

The study by Nerd Wallet looked at several factors. It says it's because of Aurora's higher-than-average population growth, a low cost of living and small gap between men's and women's incomes.

The city says it's with the help of businesses such as the Anschutz Medical Campus and Buckley Air Force Base that ranked it No. 1 out of more than 550 cities nationwide.

According to the city spokesman, the city's aerospace, defense, health care, bioscience and renewable energy industries are great draws for educated workers looking for careers.

The city says it has seen 30 new companies relocate or expand in Aurora during the past couple of years. Those companies added 4,400 jobs and almost $400 million in economic impact.

Aurora says it will continue to work to attract more quality companies and jobs to the city. No other Colorado cities made the list. Austin, Texas, and Washington, D.C., round out the top three.
