JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. — A teenager authorities have described as “high risk” has escaped custody in Jefferson County.

The 14-year-old was taken from the Jefferson Hills Youth Treatment Center in Aurora to a court in Jefferson County where he plead guilty to a charge of sex assault on a child.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Mark Techmeyer said the teen escaped after the hearing around 2:40 p.m.

The teen was in the custody of Jefferson Hills staff at the time and they were not allowed to chase him, Techmeyer said.

Techmeyer said authorities were looking for the teen. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and red Jordan shoes.
