Tanker rolls, spills 8,000 gallons of crude oil in San Miguel County

SLICK ROCK, Colo. — A tanker rolled over in the remote San Miguel County town of Slick Rock on Wednesday morning, causing 8,000 gallons of crude oil to leak, the San Miguel County Sheriff’s Office said.

The driver was airlifted to a hospital with unknown injuries and multiple crews are on the scene.

The sheriff’s office said the spill has been contained and was not leaking into water supplies.

Cleanup will begin sometime late Wednesday morning.
