LIVERPOOL, England — Ouch!

A man in England went in for what he thought was a minor procedure and got an unwelcome surprise afterward.

He can’t have children.

Officials at the Royal Liverpool Hospital have “apologized unreservedly” after the man was given a vasectomy by mistake instead of a minor urological procedure, carrying out the operation on the “wrong site,” The Telegraph reported.

Doctors tried to reverse the faux pas but it’s wait-and-see whether the reversal took hold.

The surgeon was suspended while an internal investigation is conducted.

The patient was not identified nor how old he is.

“We have apologized unreservedly to the patient and we are offering him our full support,” medical director Dr. Peter Williams told The Telegraph. “We greatly regret the distress this has caused him. It is our duty, in the best interests of the patient to uphold their confidentiality, therefore we cannot provide any further detail without their agreement.

“This is a serious incident and we are investigating this fully to understand why it occurred and how we can ensure it does not happen again.”

Experts believe the man could receive a six-figure compensation for the improper procedure.
