Driver who slammed into back of school bus cited for careless driving
FORT COLLINS, Colo. — The Fort Collins woman who slammed into the back of a Poudre School District bus in Larimer County on Friday morning has been cited for careless driving resulting in injury, the Colorado State Patrol said.
A CSP investigation found Ashlie Dickerson, 24, had about 900 or more feet of unobstructed line of sight before plowing into the back of the bus. The bus’ amber lights also were flashing at 1125 E. Larimer County Road 82, near the intersection with Larimer County Road 15.
It’s still unclear what caused the crash, but CSP has ruled out excessive speed, drugs and alcohol.
Three students and the bus driver were injured and taken to a hospital for treatment. Dickerson was taken by helicopter to a hospital with serious injuries. She was released on Monday, CSP trooper Nate Reid said.
