Arvada man sentenced to 10 years in prison for DUI crash that killed man
ARVADA, Colo. — Zachary Snyder was sentenced to 10 years in prison Friday for driving drunk and causing a crash that killed a 65-year-old man and seriously injuring his wife.
Snyder, 23, plead guilty to vehicular homicide, vehicular assault and driving under the influence in January.
Prosecutors said he had been drinking at a bar for about four hours at W. 92nd Avenue and Wadsworth Boulevard in October 2012. He left the bar, got into his car and pulled into traffic going east on 92nd without his headlights on, prosecutors said.
Snyder turned left onto Wadsworth and collided with a car being driven by Karin Mortensen. Her husband, Kacey, was in the passenger seat and was killed in the crash. Karin Mortensen was seriously injured.
Snyder’s first blood draw showed a BAC of .304, almost four times the legal limit.
