AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. — The band coach at Air Academy High School is under arrest and charged in engaging in an inappropriate romantic relationship with a student.

David Hurd, 38, was the contract band choreographer/coach at the school and is being held on four counts of sexual exploitation and three counts of obscenity.

An arrest warrant was obtained on Friday and Hurd was arrested the same day by the Aurora Police Department. He was booked into the Aurora City Jail on a $50,000 bond and a search warrant was performed at his residence.

An El Paso County Sheriff’s Office school resource officer received a report of a possible inappropriate relationship in early February. Detectives investigated and found Hurd had been engaged in a relationship with a 16-year-old, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said Hurd has been involved in numerous band activities as a consultant and choreographer for many years and believes there might be more victims.
