DENVER — The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner announced Wednesday morning that the victim of a shooting on Avondale Drive in west Denver has been identified.

The medical examiner identified Christopher DeMarco, 29, as the victim in a shooting that occurred on March 26 at 3221 W. Avondale Dr.

An autopsy was completed on DeMarco, said the medical examiner, and the cause of death is a gunshot wound to the chest.

The manner of death was ruled as a homicide.

Denver police received a call March 26 at approximately 8:17 p.m. on a report of a shooting in the 3200 block of Avondale Drive.

Upon arrival, officers said they discovered a man with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was taken to Denver Health Medical Center Paramedics, where he was pronounced dead.

Police arrested Timothy Wakefield later that evening in connection with the fatal shooting.
