GOLDEN, Colo. — The Colorado School of Mines has been making plans to build a new Welcome Center at 18th and Illinois streets in Golden, but a historic home already resides at that location.

On March 26, CSM, the city of Golden and the local Historic Preservation Board announced they would give the home away under a few conditions — the 935-square-foot home needed to be moved to a new location by mid-May.

CSM asked interested parties to submit proposals, which detailed how they planned to move the home and cover insurance costs and other expenses, by 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

Wednesday morning, CSM spokeswoman Karen Gilbert told FOX31 Denver the school had received five proposals. The school is currently reviewing the submissions and will announce the final candidate by April 11, she added.
