ST. CHARLES, Mo. — Multiple elephants escaped from the Shrine Circus at an arena in St. Charles, Mo. Saturday, damaging four cars as they wandered through the parking lot.

According to KTVI, three female elephants escaped from the Moolah Shriner’s Circus at the St. Charles Family Arena Saturday afternoon.

Handlers told KTVI the elephants got away from their compound and made their way out to the parking lot where they damaged two campers and two pick-up trucks owned by circus employees.

A statement from the circus said handlers were able to detain the animals, and circus officials assured the elephants were “resting comfortably in their compound” after their recapture.

No injuries were reported and the public was never in danger, said KTVI.

Years ago, a friendly, beloved, elephant got out.
As part of her circus act, she was trained to sit on a large strong red stool.
In the parking lot she found and sat upon a red Volkswagen!!

Dougsmith42. I write this very nicely to you, but please read about the brutality that elephants have to endure in order to learn the tricks that are not natural to them just so the humans can show them off in a circus and make money. Please! Circuses are an abomination for the animals. You can try PETA, which also features photos of the way elephants are trained.

I like how the lead of the story says “multiple” elephants escaped but then it says it was only two…. Talk about trying to dramatize the story.

Love Robert Gifts comment though :) That is a cute story.
