U.S. 36 will be closed overnight in both directions at Sheridan Boulevard until Jan. 25, 2014, said CDOT.

BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. — U.S. 36 will be closed for three hours Thursday as part of ongoing blasting operations as part of the Emergency Flood Reconstruction project between Lyons and Estes Park.

The closure will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at mile marker 16.1. Alternate routes will be in place on State Highway 7 for access to Estes Park. Major delays are expected.

This is the fourth of 20 three-hour closures on the highway as crews conduct blasting activities to move the highway about 20 feet from the river in the wake of the September floods.

The Colorado Department of Transportation recommends motorists use U.S. 34 between Loveland and Estes Park, and State Highway 7 between Lyons and Estes Park during the ongoing construction.
