JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. — A massage therapist was sentenced to jail time and sex offender probation in a Jefferson County District Court Wednesday.

Thornton resident Sean VanDerAa, 36, was sentenced to eight years of Sex Offender Intensive Supervision Probation and 300 days in the Jefferson County Jail Work Release Program for sexually touching 11 women during massage sessions, announced the First Judicial District Attorney’s Office Wednesday.

VanDerAa worked as a massage therapist at Unified Health Group at 9660 Ralston Rd. in Arvada when the first victim reported inappropriate sexual conduct to the Arvada Police Department, said the DA’s Office.

The investigation uncovered 11 female victims, aged 25 to 76, who had gone to VanDerAa for pain relief, stress relief and relaxation through therapeutic massage, said the DA’s Office.

During sessions, VanDerAa maneuvered the hands of the victims so they were cupping or touching his genitals. Victims also reported the massage therapist having an erection during sessions and touching their breast.

VanDerAa pleaded guilty on Dec. 19 to three counts of unlawful sexual contact, said the DA’s Office.
