CHINA -- Firefighters rescued a woman when she was about to jump down from a window of her 3-story bedroom on Sunday in east China's Anhui province.
A woman living in Lujiang County of Anhui locked herself in her bedroom and climbed out of the window around 9 a.m. local time Sunday, intending to commit suicide due to a fight with her husband.
Despite a five-hour consoling, her family failed to persuade her to get down and could do no more but called the police.
Firefighters decided to bring the woman down forcibly after consulting with the family members and local police.
The rescuers were divided into three groups: One was to lower a firefighter by safety harness from the roof of the three-story residential building in order to push the woman into room.
The second one was to enter the room forcibly with the help of policemen to cooperate with the firefighter hanging down.
The last group is to lay some quilts on ground to prevent any eventuality.
The woman went out of control when she heard the room door burst open and saw the firefighter lowered down.
She was about to jump down and at the crucial moment, the firefighter hanging outside the building clasped her decisively and carried her down to ground slowly. The woman was then sent to hospital.
