John Henson, son of Muppets creator, dies of sudden heart attack

SAUGERTIES, N.Y. — John Paul Henson, son of Muppets creator Jim Henson, passed away Friday at the age of 48.

According to a statement posted on The Jim Henson Company Facebook page, John Henson died of a “sudden, massive heart attack” on Friday at his home in Saurgerties, N.Y.

John Henson left behind two daughters, 10-year-old Sydney and 15-year-old Katrina, and his wife, Gyongyi.

He had shared his father’s passion for puppeteering, and was most recently serviced as a shareholder and a board member of The Jim Henson Company.

A private service is being planned, said the Facebook post.
