DENVER — The competitors in Cupid’s Undie Run dodged a bullet – or rather, an arrow – in Denver on Saturday as a week of brutal cold gave way to glorious warm weather, just in time for the annual semi-nude race.
This year’s event, the third in Denver, created a surreal mob scene as hundreds of people hit the streets of Capitol Hill wearing tighty whites, lingerie, and of course, cherub wings.
Police were on hand to stop traffic, but the motley crowd of joggers needed little help in that department. During the 1.5-mile course, runners posed for pictures with befuddled tourists, made snow angels in Civic Center Park and danced in front of boom boxes blaring the 2012 hit “Gangnam Style.” Then it was back to Stoney’s bar to warm up.
Cupid’s Undie Run, held in 30 cities in the U.S. and Australia, benefits the Children’s Tumor Foundation. Visit the event’s website for more information.
