Mixed responses for new Colo. logo leads to House review
DENVER — A new Colorado logo was revealed last August, but, after it was met with mixed reviews, lawmakers are discussing whether or not the logo should be banned until it undergoes a public vote.
The new Colorado logo, illustrating a snow-capped, triangular green mountain with “CO” printed within the mountain, was intended as a royalty-free graphic to be used by businesses wanting a Colorado logo present on their products and promotional materials.
On Tuesday, a House committee started a review of a bill proposed by several Republicans that requires a public vote on the newly branded logo. The proposed legislation would also permit alternative marketing options utilizing the colors and components of the Colorado state flag.
Aaron Kennedy, Noodles & Co. founder and chief marketing officer for Colorado, helped spearhead the new state logo, which was revealed to the public in August 2013. Gov. John Hickenlooper commissioned the state branding initiative.
