Police investigating shooting in Denver

DENVER -- Police were investigating a shooting in Denver near the Auraria campus Sunday night.

Police said in a tweet that the shooting happened at W. 14th Avenue and Kalamath Street.  The victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

No information about  suspect has been released.

Witnesses said the man was shot outside a home that was hosting a Super Bowl party. It's not yet known if the party influenced the shooting at all.

Police patrols were increased Sunday over concerns about potential riots or violence from fans watching Super Bowl XLVIII.  The Denver Broncos lost the game to the Seattle Seahawks 43-8.

Kalamath was shut down while police investigated.
