LITTLETON, Colo. — A former Dakota Ridge High School student was arrested for allegedly making threats against the school, police said this week.

The 18-year-old male was arrested on Jan. 18 after an incident with his ex-girlfriend, who is currently a student at the school, Mark Techmeyer of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said.

The suspect was charged with harassment and domestic violence against the female student, and is also accused of threatening the school, officials said.

The suspect was fitted with an ankle monitor and has since been released from police custody, Techmeyer said. The teen has been ordered to stay away from school property, and from his ex-girlfriend’s home.

On Wednesday, Dakota Ridge administrators sent a letter to parents partially explaining the situation. Though there is not thought to be an imminent threat, more police will be stationed at the school, according to the letter.
