Lamar officer injured in shooting, manhunt on for suspect

LAMAR, Colo. — After an incident that resulted in a shooting and the injuring of a southeast Colorado police officer on Wednesday night, a manhunt was on for the suspect.

That manhunt continued into Thursday morning, with police saying it all began at the Tank & Tummy convenience store on Main Street in Lamar. Police are yet to say what led to the shooting, but they confirmed a Lamar officer was injured during the incident.

While the officer’s injuries are not serious, a manhunt for the suspect accused of injuring the officer was called, with all area law enforcement agencies assisting. The extensive search has included an area in and around Lamar High School.

The manhunt for the still-unnamed suspected remained ongoing as of early Thursday morning.
