Lamar officer injured in shooting, manhunt on for suspect

LAMAR, Colo. — After an incident that resulted in a shooting and the injuring of a southeast Colorado police officer on Wednesday night, a manhunt was on for the suspect.

That manhunt continued into Thursday morning, with police saying it all began at the Tank & Tummy convenience store on Main Street in Lamar. Police are yet to say what led to the shooting, but they confirmed a Lamar officer was injured during the incident.

While the officer’s injuries are not serious, a manhunt for the suspect accused of injuring the officer was called, with all area law enforcement agencies assisting.┬áThe extensive search has included an area in and around Lamar High School.

The manhunt for the still-unnamed suspected remained ongoing as of early Thursday morning.
