PUEBLO, Colo. — Police shot and killed a suspect in a Pueblo shooting Saturday night, the Pueblo Police Department said.

The incident happened about 5:30 p.m. in the area of 1600 Gaylord Avenue, near the Colorado State Fairgrounds, police said.

A 43-year-old man was shot in the chest, and the suspect fled to a nearby apartment as police arrived, KRDO reported.

In the ensuing confrontation, the suspect refused to surrender and made a threatening move, prompting officers to fire on him.

He was hospitalized but did not survive, KRDO reported.
