LONGMONT, Colo. – A suicidal man was shot and killed Sunday morning after he allegedly drew a pistol on sheriff’s deputies, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies responded to a home in the 8300 block of North 95th Street about 8:35 a.m., BCSO said. Two women met police there. One woman said that her 44-year-old son had locked himself in a bedroom for several days and was making suicidal comments, BCSO reported.

The woman said her son did not have any weapons, but when deputies entered the room, he allegedly displayed a handgun. One of the deputies fired his weapon, hitting the man.

The man was flown to the hospital by air ambulance. He was pronounced dead shortly after 1 p.m.
