Colorado avalanche rescue caught on video
VAIL, Colo. — A Colorado skier credits his survival training and fast acting friends for saving him from an avalanche over the weekend.
On Tuesday, the 22-year-old skier told FOX31 Denver the avalanche kept him trapped underneath the snow for four hours until he eventually escaped.
“I definitely thought I might die while I was sliding,” said Edwin LaMair while recounting his experience. A camera mounted on top of another skier’s helmet captured the situation from the top of Vail pass.
LaMair is expected to stay off the slopes through early 2014 because of a torn anterior cruciate ligament ACL. An MRI was also performed on Christmas Eve but results have not yet been released.
