DENVER -- Police released a sketch of a man they said tried to sexually assault a woman in Denver's Cheeseman Park neighborhood.

The man approached a woman Friday around 4 a.m. as she was walking near E. 14th Avenue and N. Vine Street. He made several unwanted sexual advances and then knocked the woman to the ground, police said in a Crime Stoppers bulletin.

He then punched her repeatedly and tried to take of her clothes, police said. Eventually he stopped and left on foot, police said.

The victim described the man as black, between 30 to 40 years old. He was 5-feet-10 and 185 pounds with an athletic build, shaved head and a closely shaved goatee. He was wearing dark clothing, police said.

Anyone with information in this case is asked to call Denver police or Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867).

This woman is a friend of mine and in no way deserved what happened to her. Please spread the word about this monster so he doesn’t have the opportunity to do this to anyone else. Thank you.

Ladies (fellas too), please don’t walk alone at dark in any of the cities parks. Denver is a relatively safe city but this wouldn’t be wise anywhere. Your life is too precious. Take precautions and stay safe.

And, this woman did not deserve to be treated this way. None of us do.
