DENVER — Construction began Monday on a new Walmart Neighborhood Market in south Denver.
The 40,000 square-foot store will be built at Hampden Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard. The store plans to hire 65 employees when it opens.
Denver City Councilwoman Jeanne Faatz called the new store an opportunity for business growth in the area.
The store “will bring new jobs and community revitalization to southwest Denver and is a sign of the city’s strong economic outlook,” Faatz said.
Neighborhood Market stores focus on groceries.
The store is expected to open in the fall of 2014.
