Police shoot, kill man after he pointed gun at officers in Strasburg

STRASBURG, Colo. — A deadly police shooting was under investigation Thursday morning in Arapahoe County.

Police say it happened overnight, outside Rookies Bar on Monroe Street in Strasburg, shortly after dispatchers received reports of a man waving a shotgun around in the area about 12:44 a.m.

When officers arrived on the scene, police say the suspect took off running, and ended up close to a nearby KOA camp site. At that point, police say he turned and pointed a the weapon at officers.

Two officers then fired shots at the suspect, who was struck and died from his injuries, Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office confirmed in a press release.

Though the incident took place in Arapahoe County, Adams County sheriff’s deputies were called in to assist. Adams County officers were the ones involved in the shooting, according to Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office.

Neither the suspect nor the officers involved were identified Thursday morning.

    Incidents like this are more and more prevelant, and sadly this points to the only conclusion, we need more gun control, even if only 1 life is spared then its worth it. I have weapons and would not mind if I had to wait a few weeks to get licensed. We have to prevent the WRONG parties to get guns when they are liquored up or right after a break up.
    AND nobody needs a 100 round clip.. If you have that big of a problem then sombody needs to call 911 !
