BROOMFIELD, Colo. — A man in his early 20s was killed Tuesday morning after he was struck by an SUV on Highway 7.

Broomfield police responded to the accident between Huron St. and Sheridan Parkway just before 2 a.m.

Investigators determined the SUV was heading eastbound on Highway 7 when the driver stuck a pedestrian in a lane of traffic. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers said the driver, a 44-year-old male, immediately stopped and called police after hitting the man. The driver is cooperating with investigators, and police do not believe alcohol is a factor in the accident.

The identity of the victim has not been released.
