Man in wheelchair dies after being struck by pickup truck

AURORA, Colo. – A man in a wheelchair was killed Sunday night when he was struck by a pickup truck on Smoky Hill Road in Aurora, the Aurora Police Department confirmed.
The man was operating a motorized wheelchair about 7:56 p.m. just west of Buckley Road when he was hit by a female driver. The victim was thrown into the median and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
No drugs or alcohol were thought to be involved in the incident. The area has some street lights but no crosswalk where the man was crossing, police said.
