DENVER — The person suspected of robbing a bank on East Colfax was shot and killed by an off-duty police officer Saturday morning.

According to Denver Police Chief Robert White, the robbery suspect pointed what appeared to be a gun at an officer after robbing the US Bank near East Colfax Avenue and Leyden Street.

An off-duty Denver police officer in the area shot the suspect in the 6300 block of East Colfax just after 10:40 a.m. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
