ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK, Colo. — Adverse weather conditions temporarily closed Trail Ridge and Fall River roads Wednesday afternoon.

Slippery conditions due to hail were reported.

Park officials made the notification on Twitter, saying that “Plows headed up!”

An image from a webcam at the Alpine Visitor Center at about 3:30 p.m. showed cloudy, wet weather and what looked like lots of hail on the ground. The temperature was 37 degrees. The Alpine Visitor Center is at the junction of Trail Ridge and Old Fall River roads.

Trail Ridge rises to an altitude of 12,183 feet above sea level. It normally closes for the winter sometime in mid-October.
