Elvis fans gather at Graceland on anniversary of his death

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Fans say another goodbye to the king on the 36th anniversary of Elvis’ death.

Tens of thousands of Elvis Presley fans will gather in Graceland Friday night. The annual event in Memphis, Tennessee, celebrates the life and career of the man known as the King of Rock ‘N’ Roll.

The event ends with a candlelight vigil, which will be shown live on Elvis’ YouTube channel.

Elvis died on August 16, 1977, at the age of 44.

He’s believed to have sold more than one-billion records worldwide, about 40-percent of those outside the United States.
