2 killed in Denver area motorcycle crashes

DENVER — Two motorcycle drivers were killed in separate accidents late Friday night.

According to Denver Police, one of the accidents happened at about 1:15 a.m. when a motorcycle traveling at a high speed crashed into the back of a minivan at Lowell Street and 6th Avenue. Officers said the motorcycle hit a minivan that had pulled over to help the driver of a stalled SUV. Both vehicles had their emergency flashers on.

The driver of the motorcycle was rushed to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The second accident occurred at about 5 a.m. when a motorcycle slammed into the back of an SUV going eastbound on I-70 at Peoria. The passenger of the motorcycle was sent flying through the rear window of the SUV, and was later sent to the hospital with serious bodily injuries. The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have not released the identities of the victims. They did not say whether alcohol was a contributing factor in either crash.
