DENVER -- Almost one third of the top 100 best companies to work for are in the state of Colorado according to one magazine's rankings.
Word coming this week that Outside magazine’s survey found GroundFloor Media the best place to work, which set off a celebration which took 27 employees on a ‘B-Bike’ party to Civic Center Park, in downtown Denver Thursday.
Each employee was given ten bucks to spend on lunch at some of the most unique food trucks in Denver.
“We started the company 12 years ago with the thought of blending life and work,” said Ramonna Robinson, President. “We give employees perks designed to encourage an active lifestyle, including an annual wellness allowance to use for gym memberships or to buy a bicycle.”
Turnover rate: zero percent. In fact the company hasn’t seen an employee quit in the past three years. The company also lets employees telecommute, or head up to the mountains when snow flies as long as they get their work done.
Co-founder Laura Love says she was very surprised GFM was ranked first in the nation, but understands happy employees, who work well together seem to get more done as creativity is allowed to flourish.
In all, half of the top 10 companies are in Colorado, including GroundFloor Media and the #2 company, Zen Planner. Last year’s list had 19 Colorado companies, 14 from last year’s list remain on this year’s list.
The Outside list suggests the 27 Colorado companies employ nearly 4,000, the largest #90 Aspen Skiing Company with 919 workers.
