BROOMFIELD, Colo. -- A couple was surprised Sunday morning when they discovered a young bear had wandered into the backyard of their Broomfield home.

Christopher and Melissa Darling noticed the black bear in their yard in the 1000 block of East 17th Avenue, and snapped a few pictures before Broomfield police arrived.

Officers first spotted the bear at about 7:30 a.m. in the area of 136th Ave and Cedar Street Sunday morning.

Police said they were able to contain the animal just after 1:30 p.m.

This is the second bear sighting this week. Another black bear was spotted in the area south of 72nd Avenue and west of Wadsworth Boulevard in Arvada on Tuesday. The bear had to be tranquilized and moved to a safer location.
